It’s a major understatement to say that the Championship Series got off to a bumpy start for Blaze Riorden’s Chaos squad, but while the outside world was fixated on trash-talking opponents and quiet offensive production, Riorden simply kept his head down and did exactly what you’d expect the reigning goalie of the year to do. In the team’s second game of the season, Riorden set a single-game record with 23 saves (the previous record-holder? 2019 Blaze Riorden, with 21), then followed up that performance with back-to-back 21-save efforts. Despite facing over 60 more shots than the second-most frequently pelted goalie, Riorden’s 61% save percentage was the second-highest in the league.
